Renovation of the memorial bus shelter

We know that this was a long time coming, and that several residents who were keen to see these improvements might have wondered if they would ever come to pass, but we’re pleased finally to record the renovation of the bus shelter in the middle of Minera in good time for this year’s Remembrance Day commemorations. We had hoped to get grant funding, and the applications for grants did explain some of the delay, but the work is now done and we are grateful to Carl Taylor of Coedpoeth for his and his team’s efforts. The roof has been completely cleared of several years of moss and around 100 new tiles have been inserted to replace those broken by falling branches. New guttering and drainpipes have replaced the broken cast iron items, and soakaways have been put in to carry water away from the structure to reduce the problem of flooding.

There is still some potential issue with rainwater on very wet days due to limitations in the storm drains in the adjacent road and the direction of travel of surplus surface water arising from these problems, but the drains are receiving attention so we hope that all users of the shelter will have dry feet at all times in the near future.
