Minera Community Council invested in a pair of new goals this month, complete with nets, for the football pitch next to Gwynfryn play area. The installation was a bit of a challenge and needed the help of one of Cllr John Edwards’ neighbours (for which many, many thanks) and some machinery to create the sockets for the posts to anchor into. The results are well worth it, though, and local children are already enjoying using the equipment. We’ve even seen some suggestions on the Gwynfryn Village Facebook page about a village football match to celebrate the installation of the new facilities.
The goals are step one of our plans to renovate this play area. We received good feedback from the community about what play equipment would be welcomed in the course of improving the playground, and we will include these ideas where we can in the specification for the upgrade work, which we hope to carry out in the Spring.
