Our affiliated body the Society of Local Council Clerks has been made aware of activity carried out by Parish UK specifically targeting town, parish and community councils. They do this through the creation of what could be construed as official town and parish council websites, which includes information relating to the council, education, business, planning, property, heritage and farming. Emails are then being sent to businesses purporting to come directly from these town and parish councils enquiring about business listings alongside requests for payment.
They also operate a support page as well as support email address service-support@parish.uk.
We do not normally contact individuals or businesses other than through posts like this one which aim to provide news or signposting services to everyone.
We will be vigilant in looking out for any evidence of this scam activity in Minera, but please also take great care if you receive anything claiming to be from Minera Community Council and contact us before making any commitments to anything online.
