There are currently five public access defibrillators in the Minera ward
The first defibrillator that was installed in our community is located by the main entrance to Minera Primary School and is accessible at all times. Outside school hours you will need to climb over the gate to get to the cabinet.
Training of volunteers is being organised by Minera Community Council, this is being carried out by Active Health in Coedpoeth. However this can be supplemented by viewing the video produced by the equipment manufacturer which gives information about a defibrillator and how to use it.. This short video demonstrates it in action, familiarisation could make all the difference in saving a life! British Heart Foundation has launched an online training course “RevivR” which trains individuals how to deal with a cardiac arrest if a defibrillator is not immediately available.
The second defibrillator installed in our community is in Gwynfryn, next to the play area. The access code to open the box it is kept in is C159X, and the device gives the user instructions how to use it.
Our third device is in the old phone box in New Brighton, and the access code (also written on the box) is C0147X. Like the Gwynfryn defibrillator, it will talk you through how to use it when you switch it on.
Our fourth device is on the outside wall of the Visitor Centre at Minera Lead Mines. The access code for the box is C123X.
Our fifth device is on the wall of the Tyn y Capel pub. The access code is C159X.
If you ever need to use one of these devices please make sure you put it back in its box and contact the Clerk (07506 205907 / mineracc@gmail.com) to advise that it’s been used. He will then make sure that everything is in order for the device to be used again as needed.
Minera Community Council is committed to providing defibrillators in all five of our communities, and this campaign will be carried out in liaison with Welsh Government, which is committed to having one of these potentially life-saving devices installed no more than 500 metres from every dwelling in Wales. We will therefore now apply to Welsh Government for a fifth device, to be installed in Five Crosses. We will update this page as soon as we have this defibrillator on site.
